About Orthodontics

A straight smile is a beautiful smile!
For most people, a beautiful smile is the most obvious benefit of orthodontics, but a beautiful smile also makes you feel more self-confident. You know that your smile is one of the most important aspects of your appearance, so trust it to an orthodontist with years of experience. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Stephen Gurza is the right choice!

A straight smile is a healthy smile!
Treatment by an orthodontist can be less costly than the additional care required to treat dental problems arising as
a result of orthodontic problems. Crooked and crowded teeth are hard to clean and maintain. This can result in tooth decay, worsen gum disease and lead to tooth loss. Other orthodontic problems can contribute to abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, inefficient chewing function, excessive stress on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth, or misalignment of the jaw joints. These can lead to chronic headaches and face or neck pain.

Who should see an orthodontist?
With the high-tech orthodontic treatments available today, patients of all ages can benefit from orthodontic care. An orthodontic screening examination is recommended by the age of seven, but orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age. Your general dentist would normally recognize any potential problems and recommend an orthodontic evaluation; however, you do not need a referral in order to make an appointment to see Dr. Gurza. Your first visit is designed to address any questions or concerns you might have:

  1. Is there a problem that would benefit from orthodontic treatment?
  2. What is the best treatment to correct the problem?
  3. What is the estimated length of treatment?
  4. When is the best time to begin treatment?
  5. What are the costs of orthodontic treatment, and what financial arrangements are available?

Remember, braces may be on for about 2 years, but a beautiful smile is forever.
